How do I use Smart Objects in PhotoAIA?

Convert layers to a Smart Object from the Layer menu, then use Edit Contents to open the source in its own tab, or Replace Contents to swap the artwork while keeping the transforms and filters.

Working with them

1. Select one or more layers and convert them to a Smart Object.
2. Transform freely — scaling is re-rendered from the source, not from the previous result.
3. Add Smart Filters; reorder, disable or mask each one independently.
4. Use Edit Contents to change the source, then commit to write back as one history step.

Export behaviour

Smart Objects are flattened on PSD export. The compatibility report shown before writing lists this, so it is never a surprise.
